07. Which Industry is for you?
One Last Time…Back to our Experiment
We have now gotten a chance to explore some of the many industries VR has the opportunity to revolutionize.
So to end this course, before you jump into your project, let’s go back to our case study. Now instead of your education experience, choose an industry that you would like to impact with VR. This could be one of the industries we talked about or something completely different like the Automotive industry or Space Travel.
Once you picked an industry, think of a cool simulation you could build for that industry. Don’t worry if it is something others are already building, as I am sure there are ways you can improve upon it.
Once you have that, let’s revisit the questions we asked in the first lesson. First, create a Persona Profile, which includes:
- A Quick Doodle or Picture
- Age
- Occupation, if any
- Name
- A Quote
- 2-3 sentences describing what motivates them
- Their experience level with VR
Then the questions we asked were:
- **How accessible would each VR platform be to your target student in terms of price? Take into account location, age, and income. **
- How interactive does your lesson need to be? For example, do I need to pick things up or could I get away with just looking at objects?
- How realistic do your visuals need to be in order to teach? For example, could I use 2D images and videos in a 3D Environment or do you need high poly 3D models.
- Does my student need to feel like a participant in the experience or can they be a passive viewer? Could they be both?
- Given the answers above, what are potential platforms you could use for your experience?
